About Us

Jennifer Breneman (Alto)
has long been active with Music Society where she directs the Youth Honors Singers and is the assistant director of the Camerata Singers.She has also been seen onstage playing Mrs. Potts in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors. Other productions include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, City of Angels, The Sound of Music, Anything Goes, Guys and Dolls, Evita, and many others. Jennifer has also been a soloist with the Saginaw Bay Orchestra, Rochester Symphony, Saginaw Bay Chorale, and the Music Society Chorale performing works such as Mozart's Requiem, Bach's St. Matthew Passion, Handel's Messiah and Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass. She currently teaches choir at Northeast Middle School in Midland and is the mother of two budding singers, Emily and Amanda and wife to her very supportive husband Gary.

Jim Hohmeyer (Bass)
is the Artistic Director for the Music Society and the conductor-emeritus of the Rochester Symphony Orchestra, and the conductor of the Music Society: Chorale, Camerata, Good Company and Music Theatre. He completed the requirements for a Doctor of Music Arts in orchestral conducting at Michigan State University. His multi-faceted background includes a 30-year career in the Detroit area as an educator, jazz pianist, and conductor for theatrical shows as well as a conductor/pianist/arranger for the Michigan Opera Theater touring programs.

Dave Keenan (Tenor 2)
has performed in several musicals for the Music Society including Brigadoon, Die Fledermaus, City of Angels, Pirates of Penzance, and Side By Side. He plays bass guitar and keyboards in a rock ‘n’ roll band. He occasionally plays the trumpet and dabbles in music arranging in his spare time. Dave is a CPA, has an MBA from Central Michigan University and spends his days as Direct of Fiscal Services for the City of Midland. Dave is married to Lora, who sings first soprano in Good Company.

Lora Keenan (Soprano 1)
received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Choral Music Education from Central Michigan University. She has appeared in Side By Side, The Music Man, Jekyll and Hyde, City of Angels, The King and I and Quilters on the MCFTA stage. Lora is the Choir Director at Bay City Western Middle School and High School in Auburn. She and her husband Dave have 2 grown children, Derek and Taylor.

Brian Sutherland (Tenor 1)
is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Music. He is a 14-year member of the Midland Symphony Orchestra and also plays in the Music Society pit orchestra. Brian played in City of Angels as a member of the Angel City 4. He is a composer/arranger and is a Piano Technician and Trumpet Instructor. He is married to Jan Sutherland who also sings in Good Company and is an accompanist for the Music Society Chorale and Musical Theater. They have 2 children, Alexander and Amelia.
