Sing With Us
As members of Good Company, we love singing together, and we are always looking for highly skilled, motivated singers to join us. If you’re an experienced singer, we hope you’ll consider lending your talents to our active and growing group.
To audition, please contact our conductor Steven Hoifeldt at 515-509-7093 or shoifeldtgoodcompany@gmail.com. Or fill out this form and we'll get right back to you!
Our Members
We are a group of about thirty women in their 20s to 80s. Our members come from all walks of life and professions – we have artists, lawyers, music directors, students, professors and administrators at Iowa State, parents, doctors, and a few lucky retirees! Joining Good Company is a great way to get to know people if you’re new to the community or an opportunity to spend time with friends if you’ve been here forever. We look forward to meeting you!
Rehearsals
Good Company rehearses on Sunday nights from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Ames during the fall and spring semesters.
We hold about 10 rehearsals per concert over 3 months. Singers are expected to learn music independently and come with parts prepared to each rehearsal.
Dues
Dues are $55 for one semester or $100 for the year. We don’t turn anyone away for lack of funds; please speak to the conductor during your audition if you would like to make special arrangements.
Members may pay their dues online.
Concert Attire
We wear all black for concerts. No special outfit purchase is required to participate.
Auditions
Auditions are open year-round and we are always looking for all Soprano and Alto parts.
Auditions will consist of a short, prepared selection of past repertoire and tonal memory exercises. You will be sent materials ahead of time to prepare. No sight reading, additional solo or prepared piece is required.
To audition, please contact our conductor Steven Hoifeldt at 515-509-7093 or shoifeldtgoodcompany@gmail.com. Or fill out this form and we'll get right back to you!
COVID Safety
The COVID pandemic heightened everyone’s awareness of the impact of spreading viruses. We continue to expect singers to be vaccinated and, very importantly, to stay home when they are sick. By doing so, we care for the health of our fellow singers and the entire ensemble benefits.
